Classroom Setup
Most classrooms at FCS are set up with a phone, Chromebox or Chromebook and projector. Certain classes or offices may have a Windows machine, but as a Google Apps for Education School, we are very focused on transitioning to the Google Apps and Chrome world. Classrooms on the City Ave campus are equipped with a projector and a Chromebox. On the Lower School campus, classrooms have a laptop and projector. The Chromebox is an easy to use, extremely fast device for you to browse the web. Users can use Chrome Remote Desktop to mirror other student laptops to the projector. You can sign into your classroom Chromebx with your FCS email and password. Projection issues? Just see mountains? Hit CTRL + F4 for login screen Still don't see anything? Submit a helpdesk ticket and we will come look at the display settings

Network Access
In adherence with Friends’ Central School’s Faculty and Staff Acceptable Use Policy, the FCS network is the portal through which all students, faculty, and staff access Friends' Central email accounts, the Internet, the School Intranet, the School website, and all shared files and folders. It is intended for educational and/or authorized job-related activities. Use of the school network for on or off campus communication is a privilege, not a right, and privileges may be revoked under extreme circumstances. Network access, including a username (generally first letter of first name and full last name) and password to the FCS network is created upon employment at FCS, which is used to log into the network, Gmail, and Veracross. Usernames and passwords are generally sent out to employees upon their start date. If you have started and have not received this information, please submit an FCIT helpdesk ticket. Internet Access Campus computers will be connected to the internet via a wired connection. When connecting to campus wifi, you may see a few networks listed: FCS Wifi: Recommended for FCS students on the City Ace campus. Users need to sign in with their FCS email and password once every 30 days for access. FCS Staff: Recommended for FCS employees on the City Ave campus. Users need to sign in with their Windows username and password for access. (Don't know/remember your windows info? Submit a ticket!) LS Net: Recommended for students and staff on the LS campus. Users will need to sign in with their FCS email and password once every 30 days to connect. Bookstore: A private network specifically for the Bookstore. FCS Guest: Recommended for all campus guests - not recommended for employees or students. Limits browsing and printing options on both campuses.

Taking Attendance
Taking class attendance is required for all grades and divisions, so please do so at the beginning of each class to reflect accurate attendance records. To take attendance, log into Veracross and click on Attendance under the class. If Attendance is green, it means it has already been taken for that class. If Attendance is red, then it has not been taken for that class. You will then be able to select an attendance status for each student, and add additional notes if needed. You might see information in the notes section if the student has an early dismissal. Once you've completed taking attendance, save your records by clicking the green Save Attendance button.

Calendar: Import Veracross class schedule to Google calendar
This post will show how to import your schedule into your personal Google calendar. *Note: these steps will not work on an iPad. Step 1 On your Veracross homepage click Calendar Subscriptions in the right hand menu. Step 2 On the calendar page, under Class Schedules, right click the Subscribe button and click Copy Link Address. Step 3 The next two steps are the most important steps of this process. After copying the link address, open a new browser tab and paste the link into the address bar of the new tab. You can either right-click in the address bar and choose paste or use Ctrl-V to paste the link in the address bar. If you pasted the URL properly, you should see a web address that begins with webcal:// Step 4 You now need to change the text that reads webcal to http, keeping all the other text unchanged, and hit the enter key. Step 5 After you edit the text and hit enter, your browser will download a file to your computer. That file contains your class schedule that you will import into your Google calendar. Step 6 Open your Google calendar. Next to the Other calendars text there is a small arrow you should click that will open a menu of options. Choose the IMPORT CALENDAR option. Step 7 After you choose the import calendar option, a dialog box will open asking you to choose the file you want to import. You will upload the file you downloaded in Step 3. After you select your file and it is listed in the import box, you will click IMPORT to bring your schedule into your Google calendar. That is all it takes to import your schedule into your Google calendar. Now if your peers did the same import into their calendars, you would be able to see if they were busy or free when trying to schedule an event with them through Google calendar. There is one caveat for Upper School to notice after you import your schedule. Because of the alternating block schedule and lunch isn't actually scheduled, classes that happen between 12:40pm and 1:55pm will show as a double block. The classes that start at 12:40pm will show as ending at 1:55pm even though it actually ends at 1:20pm.
